Editorial policy

How facts get onto ebl.com

A fact is published only after it has been traced to a primary source and checked by a person.

Primary sources only

Every legal status, date and platform or carrier attribute cites a primary source: the statute or official gazette, the regulator, the standards body, or the organisation's own published statement. News reports, vendor blogs and other secondary accounts can prompt a check, but they are never the citation.

Verification

  1. A change is noticed through monitoring of official sources and announcements.
  2. An editor opens the primary source and confirms the change.
  3. The record is updated, the source attached, and the reason written down.
  4. The change appears on the updates page with its date.

Dates

Every record shows when it was last verified. Legal statuses are reviewed monthly and whenever a legislative event is known; platform and carrier records quarterly and on announcements.

Neutrality

Platforms and carriers are described factually and listed alphabetically. ebl.com does not rank, score or endorse them, and does not accept payment for inclusion.

Not legal advice

ebl.com explains the legal framework but does not give legal advice. Whether an electronic bill of lading is effective in a given transaction depends on the governing law, the parties and the documents; consult a qualified lawyer.

Corrections

Reported errors are checked against the primary source. Corrections are made promptly and logged publicly; they are never made silently.
